The Pozo Seco Singers

When Don Williams and Lofton Kline in Strangers Two were joined by singer Susan Taylor in 1964, the group changed its name to the Pozo-Seco Singers, and soon had a recording contract with Columbia Records.  Specializing in non-topical folk, pop, and country material, the Pozo-Seco Singers recorded two albums, 1966’s Time and 1967’s I Can Make It with You.  A third album – Shades of Time – was released in 1967, featuring Williams and Taylor as a duo.

Time (Columbia, 1966) – The Pozo-Seco Singers’ debut album showcased Williams’ lead vocals in folk-pop arrangements not unlike those Columbia was using so successfully with Simon & Garfunkel and the Cyrkle. The title track became a modest pop hit and made the group semi-stars on the college circuit.Pozo-Seco Singers, The

I Can Make It With You (Columbia, 1967) – The Pozo-Seco Singers’ second and last album yielded two top-40 pop hits: the title tune and “Look What You’ve Done”. Bob Johnston (who at the time was also producing Bob Dylan’s career-best works) directed the Nashville sessions. In 1997, Collector’s Choice Music reissued both Pozo-Seco albums on a single CD.

Shades of Time (Columbia, 1967) – A final Pozo-Seco Singers album featuring Don Williams and Susan Taylor as a duo

Don Williams went solo in 1971, becoming an country star, while Taylor retreated from the limelight.
